Changing color over glazed ceramic

by Tammy Spalsbury
(Michigan)

Hi this message is for Lois.

Hi Lois you commented on my Question about painting Over Glazed Ceramic. You were talking about a project you were doing before Christmas, some cups.
My Question is were these cups Glazed? Because I need to know if it would be a good idea to paint with the opaque glass paint or enamel that needs to be baked?
It's a Glazed ceramic Basket I would be buying. But would like to make it 2 different colors. That is if it's not too difficult, and it's a raised weaved pattern?

Painting over glazed ceramics

What paint should I use to paint over glazed ceramics. My mother made me a ceramic punch bowl. It was painted and also fired. I would like to change the color so I can use it more often.

Do you want an opaque finish or transparent?

Also, given that it's a punch bowl you won't be able to paint the area that will come in contact with liquids or food.

I've written a lot about paints for slick surfaces. Copy and paste this link into your browser. If you need more clarification let me know.
