Had enjoyed painting a still life of Ronnie Bringles and decided I was experienced enough to set up my own still life.
Love Cypriot coffee which is made with a little metal pot with a handle on the side and lip at the front, they also use a sugar dispenser which has interesting shapes/textures, the jar was empty but painted as if half full with the kumquats, these are prolific at this time of year like oval mini oranges and so tangy the locals make liqueur with them as well as jam and bottle with syrup.
I grabbed a checked tablecloth and draped it over the washing machine then set up the pieces and stood a piece of hardboard behind to catch the shadows from the sun...... took several from all different angles then downloaded them to the computer.
Choosing the special one was hard but after I had I printed it out on good glossy photographic paper then upsized it and printed in grey scale to size I wanted.
Traced onto a canvas and then commenced using DecoArt Traditions and some Americana ie the paynes grey for the checkered tablecloth.
So enjoyable and was about 2 weeks from start to finish.
