How to get the effect from Alcohol

I was so excited to get your how to paint a landscape. It looks so easy and so beautiful. I tried it today and I can't get any affects from the alcohol. I bought rubbing alcohol and tried that. I could really use some advice.

Hi Minnie,

It's possible that your background paint was too dry for the alcohol to disperse the paint pigment.

It's also possible the background paint was too wet, thereby not enough pigment left to disperse.

Try spritzing the alcohol immediately after you've re-positioned the canvas flat down rather than waiting the 1-2 minutes suggested. You may also drip the alcohol using an eye dropper or paint brush for a slightly different effect.
