hi iam currently building a model of the clipper ship cutty sark, i would like to know how to paint the scroll work that is on the bow just
behind the witch , it looks like leaves in gold . what brush is used and what method is used. iam on artist as you can gather. best regards. colin richards.

Hello Colin,
Cheryl here from Your Decorative Painting Resource. Wow! It sounds like you have an awesome project on the go! Well, scroll work is an acquired skill. The brush to use is a Round Brush and for the smaller overlapping scrolls you'll need a liner. Size will depend on the scale you're working. I also note a blue medallion with a sun image. The Round and the Liner will be used here as well. The same brushes can be used for the leaves.

I hope this helps. Would love to feature photos of your work in progress! :o)

Painting Ship

A new member here. I grew up spending the summers sailing with my Father on Lake Michigan. Any metal used on boats starts out as brass. Sometimes they have wood attached to it. As the damp air takes its toll on all metals it will oxidize and get a greenish tint to it unless it is brass that you polish on a regular basis. Your project will be rewarding.
