I haven't painted a cat portrait before so this was yet another first. Started off with gesso-ing the canvas 3 times, traced on the design from my own up-sized photo I'd taken, painted the background first a rich red as the throw on friend's sofa was red then started on Tabby painting eyes first, nose then onto the dark markings and painting in the cream, beige, peachy, vanilla, yellow etc in Americana Acrylics........... took me about 2 months but wanted to check and check again before saying FINISHED

I am just feeling my way in art. I am so amazed what I can do, as you said, we all are artists. I was sure I could not paint! I am trying out different mediums. I am feeling passionate about art and want to be doing it all the time.
Just think your art "Pats Cat" is amazing. I would love to be able to paint so realistically.
